Registration Information

SMITH COUNTY SCHOOLS 

PROSPECTIVE STUDENT GUIDELINES  

 In order for a child to enter a Smith County School, the following must be accounted for:

1. Completed withdrawal from previous school including: current grades, absences, address, and phone number of the previous school.

2. Birth Certificate

3. Social Security Card

4. Students may not be enrolled in school by a non-custodial parent. Proof of custody is required if parents are not living together. Divorce/custody papers or court appointed guardianship papers are required.

5. Green Tennessee Health Certificate with all immunizations up to date.

6. Proof of Residence in Smith County ...You must have established a residence by producing either an electricity bill or water bill which shows the guardians name, 911 address, and mailing address. If utilities are not in guardian's name, a utility bill in the landlord's name may be accompanied with a notarized statement from the landlord that the guardian and child live at the address.

7. Student must be in good standing at the previous school. Not under any suspensions or expulsions.

8. No student will be accepted until all punishments are served, all fees paid, all books returned, and all records are clear for transfer.

9. In-county students may not transfer schools during the school year unless a change of residence has occurred. The student may transfer back to their home school. They then must remain there for the rest of the school year, if they passed it up to attend another school.
